Government of India launched the Skill India initiative in 2015 with the mission of skilling 40 crore youth to make them employable in different industries. This scheme is getting implemented across India by government bodies with the help of NGOs and local bodies. But if we compare the reach of Skill India program in rural areas to the urban areas it is still happening at a slow space and as a result youth from the rural areas are not able to grasp the opportunities despite having the potential and talent.
It is important to address this gap as youth from the rural areas deserve equal opportunities to make a decent living and contribute to nation building. Acknowledging this need, iExcel community foundation with the support of Seva Sahayog foundation started IT courses skilling program for the youth from rural areas around Pune. It's a full scholarship program where students were selected on the basis of their financial background, academic performance and most importantly willpower to achieve something in life. iExcel foundation strongly believes in creating a skilling platform accessible to everyone and is committed to create such platform to provide world class quality training.
Currently 25 students are learning IT languages like Angular & Java to get proficient and make it to the top IT jobs in Pune. Parents of these students are working as labourer in farms and small industries and some have also lost their parents during covid. These students poses impressive resilience despite going through lot of difficulties in their lives which inspires us also and we are going to make sure that all the hard work these students are putting for this skilling program will be fruitful by placing them in reputed IT companies in Pune.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon in our fight against injustice and poverty” and iExcel will continue working on strengthening this skilling platform further and we envisage the future where this platform will serve disadvantaged youth across India and then with the help of skilled youth contribute in making India a developed country as per our Amrit Kaal Plan by government of India.
